Julie is a high-performance boxing and Muay Thai coach. A former Australian Boxing and Muay Thai World Champion, Julie has many years of experience bot in training and in competition to give her the skills required to train others to a champion level or just to peak fitness. Julie is part of the coaching team at Fortitude boxing in Brisbane, a boxing and kickboxing stable well known for its professional, yet down to earth, old-style boxing and kickboxing training. Charlotte Johnston is a 4th Dan Black Belt in Karate. Sensei Charlotte began training in Karate at the age of 5 years and graded for her junior first dan black belt at the age of 15. Today as an adult 4th Dan, Shihan-Dai Charlotte has spent virtually all of her life studying martial arts and her training has seen her skills utilised in general public bootcamp style training and secondary schools. Holding a Bachelor of Education Charlotte has been able to expand her karate teaching opportunities and her teaching skills have benefitted many students. Charlotte hold's particular pride in her work with indigenous students in far north Queensland and is an advocate for the benefits of structured martial arts training for our younger students. Shihan-Dai Charlotte is highly respected amongst her peers as a martial artist. However its the positive acknowledgement from the general public who know Charlotte as a caring and gentle martial arts coach who helps bring their children into a positive, inclusive and rewarding environment that will help provide a solid path forwards in their children's lives. Peter Rich is a 4th Dan in Kyokushin Karate. Peter began his karate career at an early age, but knew he was hooked from the start. After several years of training, he started to enter every tournament and was without a loss in full contact for his first twenty fights. Peter also became a valuable member in the Eltham Ippon team which managed to win four consecutive Teams Championships and the AKKA Ippon Shobu Teams Tournament. Peter trained in a variety of dojo's to hone his skills, and continued his competition. In 1996 he entered the New Zealand International tournament and was pushed up into the Heavyweight division and had his eyes opened to the hard hits of the Heavyweight division, never the less he came home with a second place trophy. 1996 also saw him win the Full Contact Karate Cup , place 3rd in the Ultimate Challenge and grade to Shodan (Black Belt). He narrowly missed selection for the World Weight Category Tournament but traveled as assistant coach for Maria Gibilisco who won the Womens Heavyweight division. His teaching started as a Green Belt teaching the Eltham Kids and has seen him teach in Williamstown and Moonee Ponds including the B squad, a group of up and coming fighters from Sensei Kolovos' Dojos. In 1997 he had a slow year and although not having put in the work he entered the Australian Championships and was reminded of the need for preparation after being knocked out by a third dan from South Africa and defeated with thigh kicks by Peter Graham in the Gippsland Tournament .But the following year he entered the Nationals again and won the Gippsland tournament and the Canberra ring tournament. 1999 saw him open his own club with the Gibilisco sisters and this was the birth of the successful Fighting Arts Fitness Centre www.fafc.com.au
William Cheung is the founder and Grandmaster of the World Wing Chun Association. In 1951, at the age of ten, William Cheuk Hing Cheung started his training in Wing Chun Kung Fu under Grandmaster Yip Man. From 1954 to 1958 Cheung was a live-in student of Grandmaster Ip Man. It was during this time that he mastered the complete system of Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu. Between 1957 and 1958 Cheung won the Kung Fu elimination contests in Hong Kong, defeating opponents with many more years' experience. In early 1954 Cheung introduced Bruce Lee to Grandmaster Ip Man, and became Lee’s trainer. Throughout the four and a half years the two men developed a very close friendship, and Cheung passed on to Bruce Lee most of his techniques and helped developed his overall confidence and experience in fights. In later years he was to use these techniques in competitions, and also in his movies. Grandmaster William Cheung was Chief Instructor for the US 7th Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan, and in 2012 was awarded the Distinguished Law Enforcement Community Impact and Life Achievement Award by Chapter 38 of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association in Delaware, USA. Grandmaster Cheung is a 1st generation master of the Wing Chun system of Ip Man, he is recognised in all parts of the world for his talents as a martial artist and has trained many people including dignitaries, celebrities, movie stars and every day citizens from all corners of the globe. Marco Mazzanti is a 6th Dan Black Belt in Karate. Sensei Marco has been involved in martial arts for most of his life, beginning his training in Judo at the age of 8 in Rome, Italy. His experience spans a number of martial arts including judo, karate, taekwondo, kickboxing and Brasilian jiu jitsu. Sensei Marco began his formal training in karate (Shukokai) under Sensei Alan Murdoch at the age of 14 and has since trained nationally and internationally with some of the most renowned martial arts teachers. He was graded to Shodan (1st Dan) by Master Shigeru Kimura, to Nidan (2nd Dan) by Sensei Tommy Morris, Sandan (3rd Dan) by Shihan Max Fabris, Yondan to Rokudan by Sensei Tommy Morris. Also a passionate and committed student of Brasilian jiu jitsu, Sensei Marco was graded to black belt in BJJ by Peter deBeen in 2015. Sensei Marco, was one of Australia’s top competitors between 1989 and 2001, winning several Australian Karate Federation (A.K.F) National and Victorian titles as well as numerous non-contact, semi-contact and full-contact events in karate, kickboxing and Brasilian jiu jitsu. He was a prominent member and captain of the Australian Karate Team, winning both Oceania individual and teams gold in 1999, placed top 16 at the 1992 and 2000 World WKF Championship and placed 4th at the 2001 World Cup held in Akita, Japan. In 2001 Sensei Marco retired from active competition to focus on the development of his students and the Kimekai organisation. He is the current Victorian AKF head sparring kumite coach as well as a senior AKF National senior coach. He also is the chair of the National Coaching Group. Sensei Marco continues to be strongly committed to developing the best karate and martial arts students in Australia. The Kimekai Group to which Marco is Director and Chief Instructor has built a reputation of quality and professionalism over the past 25 years.
